Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
There's a reason ranch is America's favorite dressing, and once you make your own, you'll understand why homemade beats bottled every time. This version comes together in one bowl with ingredients you probably already have on hand, and an overnight rest in the fridge is what really lets the garlic, dill, and onion powder work their magic. It's creamy, tangy, and endlessly useful - on salads, as a dip, or slathered on a sandwich.

- ½ cup buttermilk
- ¾ cup sour cream
- ½ cup mayo
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried dill weed
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp lemon juice about ¼ lemon
- ½ tsp dried parsley
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp prepared horseradish optional
In a medium bowl, combine the buttermilk, sour cream, and mayo. Whisk until smooth.
Add the garlic powder, dill weed, onion powder, lemon juice, parsley, salt, and pepper. Whisk again until fully combined.
Stir in the horseradish, if using, for a little extra bite.
Cover and refrigerate overnight. This resting time is key - it lets the dried herbs and spices soften and the flavors meld together.
Give it a good stir before serving. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
