Ingredients

  • 1.5 pound 80/20 ground beef
  • 1/2 cup cooked diced bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup cooked diced onion
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon dijon musard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of your favorite steak sauce
  • 4 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons half and half - Or substitute milk
  • salt and pepper
  • your favorite all purpose seasoning or burger seasoning

Instructions

  • Preheat griddle or flat top grill on low.
  • Add all ingredients to a large bowl and mix together with your hands until well combined.
  • Using a 1 cup measuring cup, portion out the meatloaf mixture and shape into patties, similar to a thick hamburger patty. You should get 4-5 patties from this recipe.
  • Season the first side of the patties with your favorite all purpose or burger seasoning, and then add them to the griddle top seasoning side down. Then, season the top upwards facing side.
  • Allow the meatloaf patties to cook on the first side for about 2 minutes to set. Then use a spatula to carefully flip them to the other side and continue to cook.
  • Once both sides have developed a nice initial crust, continue to flip periodically so that the sugars from the added ketchup do not burn on the griddle. You may need to dome the patties while cooking to create more of an oven effect. Cook until the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of about 160 degrees.
  • When the meatloaf patties are done cooking, remove them from the griddle and transfer to a plate or cutting board to cool slightly. Then serve with your favorite meatloaf side dishes or add to toasted bread for an open-faced sandwich. Enjoy!
